    Challengers Flyers v Upton ladies 7/10/17

    Flyers took the first quarter comfortably. It could have been a higher lead but for unforced errors and missed shots. Going into the second quarter Flyers continued to turn ball, Laura Sargison at WD forcing her WA wide and tipping the ball out of court repeatedly. The defensive duo of Lizzie Udale at GD and Lizza Head at GK proved to be formidable as they started to work as a unit, bringing the ball out of defence equally effectively following a turnover. An improvement in the conversion rate of shooters Louise Clune and Linzi Dyer gave Flyers a further lead. 29-13 at half time.
    Upton pulled some of the lead back in the third quarter as Flyers took 5 mins to settle following a few changes. The last quarter saw Flyers reply with some fantastic flow through court as they maintained attacking intensity, Alex and Lou converting comfortably with 12/13 and 6/7 respectively, finding their own comfort zones, Lou occasionally pushing herself away from hers and maintaining accuracy.
    Final score 57-39 to Flyers. Good team work today, very supportive of each other.
    Squad; Louise, Linzi, Alex, Rachael, Becky S, Hannah P, Courtney, Laura S, Katy S, Lizzie, Lizza.
    Shooting; Lou 22/31, Linz 19/30, Alex 16/23.
    Turnovers;
    27 tips! So if we could run faster/take our feet to the ball maybe there would be more turnovers?
    22 Intercepts- and Lizza/Lizzie/Katy can take credit for 15 of those.

    Flyers fielded a large squad for their third game of the season.
    Upton took advantage of our early unforced errors and found their shooting form early on in the game. Flyers responded with some great flow through court following intercepts from Jess King and Becca Smith in the defensive circle. Sometimes the flow was just a little bit too fast resulting in a couple of footwork calls, nothing a few more sprints won’t sort out though. Trailing 11-8 at quarter time.

    Changes in attack put Alex to GA, Suzy to GS. More shooting opportunities this quarter, Lizza Head at GK making a big impact working tightly with Becca Smith to close the Upton shooters down, it was only a few well placed sneaky overhead balls close to the back line that allowed them to get close enough to convert . Still trailing by a goal by half time.

    Flyers dominated the second half of the game, soon pulling ahead and converting confidently. Some great defensive end unit work resulted in a couple of held balls. Fewer errors and a good conversion rate from our centres , turnovers and their mistakes resulted in a healthy 45-35 win.

    Squad: Jess King, Becca Smith, Louise Clune, Katy Seal, Chloe Williams, Hannah Pegrum, Kirsty Hughes, Zoe Wenham, Alez Arbourne, Suzy Hamlin, Izzy Powell, Becky Smith, Lizza Head.

    Shooting: Alex 26/35, Zoe 1/1, Suzy 2/6, Izzy 16/20.

    Score- 8-11, 18-19, 32-27, 45-35.
